Committees

Committee -- Goals and Purposes
  • Birthday Table - manages sale of tickets and drawings for donated gifts
  • Community Service - distribute supplies to committee members; set up workshops to make kits/quilts/other items for recipients (past beneficiaries have included Parker House residents); provide Newsletter committee with updates
  • Christmas Lotto - forms committee to select patterns, fabric, prep kits for July meeting, sales, organizes sewing sessions to make tops, drawing at Christmas Party. 
  • Christmas Party - coordinates food, gift exchange, decorations, table set-ups, etc
  • Education and Programs -  coordinates presentations by contracted teachers, suggests and organizes educational technique demonstrations for monthly meetings; hands-on during meetings or on sew days
  • Fabric/Block Swap -  coordinate fabric swaps 
  • Friendship Groups/New Member Activities - Greets guests and perspective members; keeps database of existing “quilting bees” accepting new members; generates listings of members looking to form new groups based on interests, location, and meeting times; coordinates weekend or day trips to out-of-town quilt locations, includes transportation, lodging, schedules
  • GSQA Liaison - attends GSQA quarterly meetings, reports content to guild
  • Guild Challenges - annual challenge(s) - picks theme, fabrics, makes presentation
  • Guild Retreats - coordinates dates and locations for sewing retreats
  • Lotto Blocks - picks fabric and pattern, prepares kits for sale, drawing (generally in March and August)
  • Meeting Logistics - coordinates helpers to set up room, presentations, and clean up at meeting's end
  • Newsletter - produce monthly newsletter
  • Public Relations - manages RCQG, photographs events, maintains current data, pictures, go-to information about guild, distributes press release to local media; contacts by e-mail follow-up to invite visitors to future meetings
  • Saturday Sew-In - unlocks and locks the room and assures that proper cleanup take place at the end of the day
  • UFO Challengeorganizes program and contest during selected month to choose winners based on categories voted on by membership (TBA)
